Magazine conventions of front cover magazine


  1. Masthead: The name of the magazine (usually they appear at the top quater). They are in a colour that stands out against the background. Also largest font on the page.
  2. Banners- they are blocks of colour either triangular/circular/rectangular upon which cover lines or images are placed- banners help those cover lines stand out because the colour of the banner ussually contrasts with the colour of the background.
  3. Barcode-
  4. Price
  5. Date/Issue number
  6. Website
  7. Slogan
  8. Coverlines- text that informs the reader of some of the features inside the magazine. These may take the form of names of stars, names of directors, names of films, all of which are being used as part of a film's marketing campaign.
  9. Dominant central image of either a character or an actor or director.
  10. Main cover line that references the image that dominates the magazine.
  11. Other smaller images of films that are featured within the magazine.
